Insurtech Boxx Insurance has announced three strategic appointments to expand its presence and distribution capabilities in the U.S., with the hires of Joe Gates, Ray Moylan and Thomas Beale.

Gates has joined as head of distribution, Central, tasked with managing demand and broker relationships for Boxx's all-in-one cyber insurance and protection offerings for businesses and homes. He brings more than two decades of industry experience from roles at At-Bay, Beazley and AIG.

Moylan has been appointed claims manager within the global claims and Hackbusters team, where he will oversee Boxx’s claims handling for U.S. small and medium-sized enterprise clients. Moylan has almost a decade of cyber, commercial and property claims experience at Marsh and Travelers.

Beale joins as head of engineering and architecture, leading Boxx’s technology and platform strategy including U.S. API capabilities. Based in California, Beale previously held the CTO position at Converge Insurance and brings deep experience in security and cyber insurance from Converge, Guidewire Software and Corax.

Toronto-headquartered Boxx in July this year announced an agreement to be acquired by Zurich, which also closed a $60 million Series C investment in Cowbell in July last year.
