Welcome to #ReinsuranceMonth 2023

For the fourth successive year, The Insurer has designated September as #ReinsuranceMonth in recognition of the importance of this period in the renewal calendar.

Over the course of the coming month we will bring you exclusive news, data, insight and intelligence on the reinsurance sector, highlighting the key factors that will drive renewal discussions ahead of 1.1.

At the centre of #ReinsuranceMonth will be the annual Rendez-Vous in Monte Carlo, now firmly re-established as an in-person event following its enforced suspension during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Insurer team will be out in force at the Rendez-Vous, while The Insurer TV will be operating from our studio suite in Monte Carlo's iconic Hôtel de Paris.

The Insurer TV will be broadcasting exclusive videos from industry leaders throughout the month.

Our #ReinsuranceMonth coverage extends far beyond the annual gathering on the Côte d’Azur. As in recent years, we will bring you a full month packed with interviews, analysis and the need-to-know exclusive news that will shape the renewal season ahead.

It looks set to be another eventful 1 January renewal. Several senior reinsurance executives have commented in recent weeks that they expect hard market conditions to continue into 2024 across the majority of classes.

With significant new capital not expected to enter the market ahead of 1.1, reinsurers are likely to retain this bullish outlook throughout renewal negotiations.

And while the hurricane season has not generated losses to date, forecasts of an active period ahead suggest this dynamic could also shift in the run-up to renewals.

The Insurer will be watching all these trends closely to bring you our take on how renewal discussions are evolving.

All of our exclusive content can be accessed for free on our newly-launched website and will be emailed directly to our readers as soon as it is published.
