Aeolus promotes Morrison to partner

Bermuda-based ILS fund manager Aeolus Capital Management has promoted Fergus Morrison to become a partner in the firm.

Morrison joined Aeolus in 2018 and currently serves as portfolio manager with responsibility for underwriting and pricing property catastrophe collateralised retrocession and reinsurance limits.

With his promotion to partner, he will join the Aeolus operating committee, which is responsible for reviewing the firm’s performance and strategic direction.

Before joining the firm, Morrison was an underwriter at Securis Investment Partners, having earlier worked at RMS.

“Fergus is one of the catastrophe reinsurance sector’s stand-out portfolio managers and this promotion signifies our recognition of his invaluable skillset and outstanding record at Aeolus,” said Andrew Bernstein, CEO.

“Our ability to attract top-tier talent continues to enhance Aeolus’ capabilities as a premier manager of reinsurance risk. We are very excited to advance Fergus’ career and proudly welcome him as a partner,” he added.

Aeolus currently manages in the region of $3bn of assets on behalf of institutional investors globally and has seen its operations expand due to the dislocation in the property cat market, which included an active 1.1 renewal season for the firm.

Earlier this year, the company also bolstered its business development function, adding Benjamin Somers as managing director of business development at its US subsidiary.

The promotion of Morrison is subject to Bermuda immigration approval.
