Walgreens sues insurers for coverage of $1bn-plus opioid lawsuits

Walgreens has sued its liability insurers – including subsidiaries of AIG, Allianz, Aspen, Axa, Berkshire Hathaway, Chubb and Liberty Mutual – for coverage of the defence costs and any settlements or judgments in the hundreds of opioid lawsuits it is facing, in which the US pharmacy giant expects plaintiffs to seek more than $1bn.
