Travelers beats but UW income falls 65% to $113mn in Q2 as cat losses rise

Underwriting income at Travelers more than halved year on year during the second quarter to $113mn from $324mn a year ago, as the insurer reported a heavier hit from catastrophe losses and weakening core underwriting margins.
