Memorial service for Graham White to take place on 23 October

Family, friends and colleagues of the late Graham White will come together to celebrate the life of the popular Lloyd’s former deputy chairman on Monday 23 October.

A service will take place at St Botolph-without-Bishopsgate from 4.00pm followed by the chance to raise a glass in memory of Graham at a drinks reception in the Lloyd's Underwriting Room from 5:30pm.

The memorial event will commemorate White’s 50-year career in the Lloyd’s market, which included a lengthy stint as the market’s deputy chairman between 2007 and 2014.

A popular figure, he was admired for his intelligence and good humour together with an ability to find consensus and mediate disagreements. These were attributes he combined to great success during his long stint at Lloyd’s, operating initially alongside Lord Levene and later John Nelson.

White’s long career included a variety of senior market roles – and latterly non-executive positions – at a number of Lloyd’s agencies, as well as at Willis.

His later career also included a long spell with Argenta, initially as managing director of Argenta Private Capital before later overseeing Syndicate 2121 as managing director of Argenta Syndicate Management Limited.

A strong advocate for protecting the interests of third-party capital, White retired from Argenta in 2017 but continued to hold non-executive directorships around the market.
