Four new board members have been appointed at the Lloyd’s Market Association (LMA), including Talbot’s CEO Chris Rash.

Rash, who took over as Talbot CEO at the start of the year, is joined on the LMA board by  Lorraine Harfitt, Mark Graham and Henry Withinshaw.

Harfitt has served as managing director at Asta since the start of the year following seven years as chief operating officer with the company.

Graham has served as CEO of Antares since the third quarter of last year, in addition to his role as chief risk officer at parent Qatar Insurance Company.

Withinshaw is chief operating officer at Newline, having previously held roles at Markel, Miller and Sirius International.

The LMA has also committed to 30 percent of its board members being female and/or from an ethnic minority by the end of 2023.

Following Harfitt’s appointment the board currently has five female members, including CEO Sheila Cameron and underwriting director Jane Hayes.

Cameron said the new diversity target “matches that of the Lloyd’s Council and is higher than the 20 percent target set by Lloyd’s for boards and executive committees”.

“This is the first step on the journey toward achieving a diverse board while setting an example for our market, and we are determined to reach our target by the end of 2023,” she said.

“Our new members bring many outstanding qualities and vast experience to the LMA. Each hail from a variety of disciplines, bringing a diversity of skillset which is also vitally important,” she said.
