City minister: Competitiveness mandate is not a “race to the bottom”

Newly installed City minister Andrew Griffith has vowed that the UK’s sweeping changes to financial services rules will not become a “regulatory race to the bottom”, and pledged that new powers to allow ministers to override regulators would only be used “sparingly”.
