Chaucer has appointed financial services veteran Lesley Watkins as a non-executive director.
Watkins, who has spent a 20-year career in the financial services sector, joins Chaucer holding two active NED positions, for Investec Bank and Braemar Shipping Services.
She has also held non-executive positions at Game Digital and Panmure Gordon & Co. as well as council member and chair of the Audit Committee of the Competition Commission.
In a statement today (25 September), Chaucer described Watkins as a trusted business adviser with an in-depth knowledge of the UK corporate finance arena.
Chris Stooke, non-executive chairman of Chaucer, added: “John Fowle, the directors and I are delighted that Lesley is joining the Board. She has a wealth of business experience and possesses a skillset that will complement the Board’s existing expertise.
“I am sure that Lesley will provide invaluable oversight and constructive challenges to the business as we continue our development as a leading international specialty underwriter.”
Watkins is the insurer’s latest senior hire and follows the appointment of former Talbot board member, Noufal Manzil, as class underwriter of its property team in Dubai – as the carrier targets property portfolio growth across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
