Florida insurance commissioner Dave Altmaier will hold the position of president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners for 2021 as one of the regulatory body’s officers elected at its Fall 2020 national meeting earlier this month.

Altmaier has been commissioner of the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation since his appointment by the state’s Financial Services Commission in April 2016.

His tenure in Florida has coincided with multiple challenges for the insurance industry in the Sunshine State in recent years, including its beleaguered homeowners market.

Other elected NAIC officers for 2021 included Idaho insurance director Dean Cameron as president-elect, Missouri insurance director Chlora Lindley-Myers as vice president, and Connecticut insurance commissioner Andrew Mais as secretary-treasurer.
